How to Save Money For Your Trip Abroad

Save Money for your Trip
You and your family have been waiting to go on that exotic getaway for years and you’ve finally accrued the vacation time to go. Now comes the real question, how much will it cost? With hotels, activities, and transportation, costs can quickly add up, so it is important that you know how to save money so that you can do all the things you want to do. Here are a few tips.

Air Miles Benefits

One of the easiest ways to travel cheap is to purchase air miles. Using a website like The Mileage Club can save you thousands of dollars and even get you a seat in first or business class without breaking the bank. It doesn’t matter where you are flying either. For instance, you could take an exotic flight to Korea and buy any additional air miles you need for as low as 2.2 cents per mile. This same deal goes for domestic trips with flights going for as low as 2.5 cents per mile.

Create A Travel Budget

The only way to truly know how much money you will need to save for your trip is to create a detailed travel budget before you leave. Creating this budget will assist you in choosing which hotels you want to stay at and what activities you want to do while you are in the area. Once you know what these items will cost, you can save accordingly or change your plans if an activity does not fit within your budget. To be extra safe, add a cash cushion to your budget. So if you plan on bringing $1,000 dollars of spending money for your trip, add 20% to that so you will be ready for any unforeseen circumstances.

Limit Your Expenses Before Your Trip

If you are somebody who has trouble saving money, you may find that you do not have enough cash lying around when it comes time for your trip. If you are unsure of where you can cut corners, try some of these tips that can get you more money without sacrificing your lifestyle. For instance, you could renegotiate your phone, Internet and cable bill in an effort to save a few bucks.

There are several other ways you can save money before your trip. If you are accustomed to visiting Starbucks every day for your coffee, try buying a bag of coffee at the grocery store and brewing it at home. The same goes for lunch. Instead of going out for lunch every day at work, bring your own. Additionally, instead of buying books and renting movies, visit your local library and check out all of these items for free. Finally, you may decide to opt out of your gym membership and workout at home.
