How One Man Was Able To Fly First Class Around The World

By: Justin Zipprich Categories: Travel Tips

Fly First Class
Travel blogger Ben Schlappig was just 14 when he decided that he wanted to spend his life in first class, and since then, the sky has literally been the limit. As a professional traveler and hobbyist, Schlappig has learned to take advantage of air miles while teaching the world the plethora of tips he’s learned. Take a look at his story and discover how you can also fly first class for a living.

How It All Started

While most young children dream of being firefighters or astronauts, this blogger dream of a life in the skies. After convincing his parents, he spent his teenage years constantly in the air with the objective of gaining as many air miles as he could. He did this by taking cheaper flights, sometimes up to eight in a weekend, and in the process, he earned hundreds of thousands of miles. As he grew older, it became his life and he has never looked back.

Now He Is A Man Of The Skies

At 25, Ben Schlappig has already traveled more than most while barely spending any time on the ground. He is truly a man of first class, as he has never had a seat in economy on an international flight. Just to show how much he has traveled, he makes it a habit of flying 400,000 miles a year, that’s equal to flying around the globe 16 times! And it’s a good thing he doesn’t get air-sickness because he spends at least 4 hours on a plane every single day.

How Does He Do It?

The key to his success is careful research and a close inspection of the details. He essentially has a three-pronged plan. Prong one is to use credit cards to his advantage by focusing on credit card companies that promise a huge 50-75,000 mileage bonus just for signing up. Prong two includes a lot of flying. Basically, it is finding cheap flights that go anywhere from Chicago to Shanghai that won’t break the bank but will accrue tons of miles. Take enough of these trips and the mileage benefits can be enormous.

For prong three, it is essentially taking advantage of air mileage deals that can be found on the Internet. Like any other business, airlines often have sales that offer miles for a fraction of the price; this includes deals for as little as 2 cents per mile. The Mileage Club is another example of an affordable outlet for cheap flights with miles available with the finest airlines for as little as 1.85 cents per mile along with many other special deals. If you want to live the jet set life and fly first class like Ben, it takes a commitment above all others, but it is a commitment well worth it.
